Propel Center, an innovation hub for HBCUs, recognized a powerful opportunity to equip students with credentials in high-demand fields such as AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity, as well as courses in career readiness and DEI. To make these opportunities truly accessible, the team designed the program as fully asynchronous, knowing that most students were already balancing full course loads. That meant the learning experience had to be more than flexible; it needed to be compelling and convenient enough to capture and keep students’ attention.
The Propel team chose Honor as its learning platform for its modern design, emphasis on connection, and powerful analytics. With a mobile-first, intuitive interface built for today’s learners, Honor resonated with Propel’s primarily Gen Z audience and made it easy for students to engage anytime, anywhere. Just as importantly, the platform fostered a sense of community among geographically dispersed learners, giving them the chance to connect and learn from one another. And because measuring impact was essential for a new program, Propel relied on Honor’s robust analytics to see what content resonated most and identify areas for improvement.
In just two years since the launch, the program has grown to reach students at 105 of the 107 HBCUs across the United States. This rapid expansion reflects not only the demand for cutting-edge courses but also the strength of the experience itself: designed to foster connection among today’s modern learners.
